Welcome new 5th Graders! Goodbye and good luck to the CME Class of 2010!
This is it for the summer learning packets. I know that the summer learning packet indicated that there would
be ten. There will only be eight. Complete these 8 assignments and give them to your Math teacher on the
first day of school.
Nichole G., Sophia P., Katerina R., Fehico, Maria A., Maria C., and Genevieve have solved the problem on
worksheet #3. Congratulations!
I have tried to respond to everyone that has written me either by email or in the notes below. If you have not
received a response from me, please try again.
Worksheets #6 and #7 will be online tomorrow. I promise they will be short.

Where is everyone?
Someone send me a message.
Wow, Twitter is pretty cool. I heard a lot about it but didn’t know how it would be useful. Until
now...
Beginning this school year, I will be “tweeting” homework reminders, important events,
announcements etc.
My Twitter username is: mraulow (no period)
If you, or your parent become one of my “followers” on Twitter, I will give you a no homework pass.
Parents, this could become an important tool to help you stay informed. Alll you need to do is go to
Twitter.com and sign up. It’s free and easy. The easiest way to “follow” me is to log in to your
account, then visit www.twitter.com/mraulow and click “follow.”
You can even have Twitter “tweets” sent right to your cell phone as a text message.
Parents, the Parent Portal / Gradebook Viewer is the best way for you to
keep up-to-date on your child’s grades.
With the Gradebook viewer you can:
* View grade averages
* View grades on individual assignments
* Set up email “alerts” to notify you of unexcused absences
* Set up email “alerts” to notify you when grades drop below a set point
* Set up email “alerts” to notify you of missing assignments.
I’m a parent of a MDCPS student myself. This is a GREAT tool. I set up
email alerts last year and they really work.
Click on the Parent Portal to learn how to set up an account. You do need
to actually visit the school to obtain your 6 digit PIN numbers.
Congratulations to our Gators of the Month!

Adopt a Classroom
Adopt a Classroom - Mr. Aulow’s page
Parents, Friends, generous Benefactors,
Sorry, this is about money...I spend a considerable amount of money each year on supplies and equipment. I do
it not because I have to, but because I want to. Little things like paper towels, vinegar, and baking soda for a
science experiment may not seem like much, but they add up over time.
Some supplies and equipment, that I know will help students learn effectively, are not supplied by the school
system, and are too expensive for me to afford.
Thanks to Adopt a Classroom, you can help me purchase science equipment that will enhance learning through
hands on activites.
Your donation to Adopt a Classroom will go directly to the purchase of equipment for OUR classroom. There are
no administrative fees.
You can learn about Adopt A Classroom by clicking on the link below. I have also included a link that will take
your directly to my Adopt a Classroom page.
Thanks,
Mr. Aulow
Did you know that you can see the space shuttle and International Space Station while they are
oribiting the Earth? You can see them flying in space from the ground without a telescope or
binoculars. Want to know how and when? Viist www.nasa.gov. This is a great site with tons of
interesting information.

I was 8 years old when Neil Armstrong landed on the Moon. That was July 20th,
1969. Over 40 years ago. Now, NASA is planning trips back to the Moon and then
to Mars about 25 years from now. . The astronauts for the Mars missions are likely
to be people that are YOUR age now. The sky is the limit for students who work
hard in school. If you’re interested in becoming an astronaut or working for NASA,

Rules of Divisibility
2’s - All even numbers are divisible by 2
3’s - if the sum of the digits is divisible by 3, the number is divisible by 3
example) 51 is divisible by 3 because 5 + 1 = 6 and 6 is divisible by 3.
4’s - if you can divide/chop a number in half twice, the number is divisible by 4.
5’s - all numbers that end in 0 or 5 are divisible by 5.
9’s - if the sum of the digits is divisible by 9, the number is divisible by 9
example) 108 is divisible by because 1 + 0 + 8 = 18 and 18 is divisible by 9.
10’s - all numbers that end in 0 are divisible by 10. .
